Daily Word
A Word For Daily Living
Family Devotional
11 November 2025
Welcome to today’s devotional. Today’s reflection and prayer is titled: Modeling Godliness Before Children.
Scripture:
“Likewise, teach the older women to be reverent in the way they live, not to be slanderers or addicted to much wine, but to teach what is good. Then they can urge the younger women to love their husbands and children, to be self-controlled and pure…” — Titus 2:3–5 (NIV)
Reflection
Children may not always do what we say, but they almost always imitate what we do. Modeling godliness before them is one of the greatest ministries we can offer as parents, mentors, and believers.
In Titus 2, Paul paints a beautiful picture of generational discipleship—older believers guiding the younger through example and wisdom. This principle applies powerfully in the home. When children see parents praying, forgiving, serving, and walking in integrity, they receive living lessons on what it means to follow Christ.
Think of Lois and Eunice, Timothy’s grandmother and mother (2 Timothy 1:5). Their sincere faith became the soil from which Timothy’s ministry grew. They didn’t just teach him about God—they modeled faith in daily life. That quiet consistency produced a world-changing disciple.
In a world where many voices compete for our children’s attention, the example of godly living speaks the loudest. Modeling godliness isn’t about perfection; it’s about authenticity—owning our mistakes, extending grace, and pointing back to Christ.
Practical Steps
- Live Transparently: Let your children see how you depend on God in both victories and challenges.
- Model Forgiveness: Admit mistakes and ask for forgiveness—this teaches humility and grace.
- Show Consistent Faith: Let prayer, worship, and the Word be regular rhythms of your family life.
- Encourage Imitation: Invite your children to serve, pray, or give alongside you.
- Be Accountable: Surround yourself with other believers who inspire you to live godly.
Prayer
Father, thank You for calling us to model godliness before our children and those who look up to us. Help us to live lives that reflect Your truth, grace, and love daily. May our words, actions, and attitudes point our children to Jesus.
Give us the humility to admit when we fall short and the strength to grow in faith and character. Teach us to be examples of patience, integrity, and compassion that will inspire the next generation to walk closely with You.
Lord, may our homes be living testimonies of Your goodness, and may our children inherit a legacy of sincere, unwavering faith. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Welcome to today’s devotional.
Today’s reflection and prayer is: Finding Joy in Simplicity – 1 Timothy 6:6–8.
Scripture
1 Timothy 6:6–8 (NIV)
“But godliness with contentment is great gain. For we brought nothing into the world, and we can take nothing out of it. But if we have food and clothing, we will be content with that.”
Reflection: Finding Joy in Simplicity
There’s a story told of a fisherman who lived in a small village. Every morning, he would fish just enough to feed his family and spend the rest of his day resting, laughing with his children, and talking with his neighbors. One day, a wealthy businessman visiting the village said, “If you caught more fish, you could sell them, make more money, buy more boats, and retire rich!”
The fisherman smiled and asked, “And then what would I do?”
The man replied, “You could relax, enjoy your family, and live peacefully.”
The fisherman laughed gently, “But that’s what I’m already doing.”
In a world that constantly pushes us to do more, have more, and become more, we often forget that contentment is not found in abundance, but in gratitude. The Apostle Paul reminds us that true joy and peace come when our hearts are centered on godliness, not greed.
Simplicity doesn’t mean lack — it means freedom. When we stop chasing what we don’t have and begin cherishing what we do, we open space for joy to flourish. The clutter of discontentment can drown out God’s quiet blessings, but a grateful heart turns the ordinary into abundance.
Practical Steps
- Declutter your life and heart. Release what doesn’t serve your peace — both physically and emotionally.
- Practice daily gratitude. Write three things you’re thankful for each morning.
- Slow down. Take moments in your day to breathe, reflect, and notice God’s presence in small things.
- Live generously. Share what you have — contentment grows when we give freely.
Prayer
Father,
We thank You for the gift of simplicity and the quiet joy found in contentment. Teach us to see Your hand in the small things — the laughter of family, the warmth of food, the beauty of a sunrise.
Forgive us for chasing after what fades, and help us to rest in what lasts — Your presence, Your peace, and Your promises.
May we find satisfaction not in possessions, but in knowing You more deeply each day. Let gratitude anchor our hearts and simplicity be our song.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen.
