You are Special

You are very special!

Many at times we do things to please people not God. This is all due to a broken self-image or having suffered rejection.

There is something on my bedroom wall that I read all the time to remind myself that I’m very special. It was given to me by a woman of God who prayed for me a couple of years back. I’ll like to share this to encourage someone who probably is struggling or find it difficult to accept the fact that they are special and that God made them for a special reason.

Before I share that I saw this short poem written by a little girl and wants to share with us.  Each line was illustrated with a picture. It quite interesting and I found myself giggling while reading it. It says …

God made the sun,

God made sea,

God made the fishies and

God made me!

That is amazing. God made you and you are very special to Him.

One lady also shared that one of her favourite questions she usually ask her three year old daughter is, “Why are you special?” She enthusiastically replies, “Because God made me!” The best part is when she proceeds to tell her all the parts that He made while pointing to each one. “God made my elbows,” she says, as she proudly points them both at her. “He made my legs,” as her pointer finger dances back and forth between her thighs, “and He made my toes,” as she rips off her socks to wiggle them for me.

She knows that God made every part of her body just the way He wanted her to look. He made her so special. Can you cheerfully say the same thing about your body?

So below is the poem I was talking about. The author of this poem is unknown but I love it. It reminds me daily of who I am in Christ. I pray it almost every time to remind myself that I am very special and so are you. I hope it blesses you.

YOU ARE SPECIAL.

In the entire world there is nobody like you.

Since the beginning of time, there has never been another person like you.

Nobody has your smile.

Nobody has your eyes, your nose, your hair, your hands, your voice.

YOU’RE SPECIAL.

No one sees things just as you do.

In all of time there has been no one who laughs like you, no one who cries like you.

And what makes you laugh and cry will never provoke identical laughter and tears from anybody else.

You are the only one in God’s creation with your set of natural abilities.

There will always be somebody who is better at one of the things you’re good at but no one in the universe can reach the quality of your combination of talents, ideas, natural abilities and spiritual abilities.

Through all of eternity no one will ever look, talk, walk, or do exactly like you.

YOU’RE SPECIAL.

You’re rare. And, as in all rarity, there is great value.

Because of your great rare value you need not attempt to imitate others. You should accept and celebrate your differences. YOU’RE SPECIAL. Continue to realize it’s not an accident that YOU’RE SPECIAL. Continue to see that God created you special for a very special purpose. He called you out and ordained you to a calling that no one else can do as well as you. Out of all the billions of applicants, only one is qualified, only one has the best combination of what it takes. That one is you. That just as surely as every snow flake that falls has a perfect design and no two designs are the same, so no two people are the same.

YOU ARE SPECIAL!

How does God see you?

Do you know what God says about you? You are “fearfully and wonderfully made” (Psalm 139:14). You are glorious. God knows the number of hairs on your head (Matthew 10:30). After all, He put them there, and colored them too! He knit you together in your mother’s womb (Psalm 139:13) so you can be confident that He knows you inside and out.

What do you see when you look in the mirror?

So, why are you special? I encourage you to take a good look at yourself today. Are you too critical of the child that God made? Do you think that He could have done a few things better? Or are you thankful that the Creator of the Universe chose every part of your body, just as He chose where to put each star in the sky?

Take another look, maybe this time through His eyes. You are special, so special. Isaiah 43:4 tells us that we are “precious and honored” in His sight. Enjoy who He made on the inside and the outside!

Maybe no one has ever told you this before. Maybe you didn’t hear it from your mum or your dad. You didn’t hear it from your teacher or any influential person in your life. You don’t hear it from your husband, your wife, or someone you love. But, hear it now, loud and clear, that the Almighty God says you are special. So, look in the mirror again, and then ask Him to help you live under His grace and protection. God made each one of us truly fabulous!
