Colossians 3:2–4 (NIV)
“Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God. When Christ, who is your life, appears, then you also will appear with him in glory.”
Reflection
It’s easy to get caught up in the busyness of life—work deadlines, bills to pay, children to raise, and plans to make. Yet Paul reminds us that as believers, our perspective must rise higher. We are called to live with eternity in mind.
Think of Moses. He had the wealth and privileges of Egypt at his fingertips, but he chose to identify with God’s people, looking ahead to the reward (Hebrews 11:24–26). Moses understood that earthly treasures are temporary, but the reward of following God is eternal.
When we fix our hearts on eternity, our priorities shift. Success is no longer measured by possessions or accolades but by faithfulness, obedience, and love. Living with eternity in mind frees us from striving for what doesn’t last and anchors us in what does—our life in Christ.
Practical Step
- Evaluate Priorities – Ask yourself: Am I investing more in things that fade or in things that last forever?
- Daily Eternal Check – Start your day by praying, “Lord, help me live today with heaven in view.”
- Invest in People – Relationships and souls outlast possessions. Choose to love and serve generously.
- Practice Detachment – Hold earthly things loosely, knowing they are tools, not treasures.
Prayer
Father, we thank You for reminding us that our lives are hidden with Christ in You. Help us to lift our eyes above temporary distractions and fix them on what is eternal.
Teach us to value what matters most—faith, love, and obedience. May our choices reflect heaven’s perspective, and may we live each day ready for Christ’s appearing.
We choose today to seek things above and to walk with eternity in mind.
