Scripture
1 Corinthians 10:13 (NIV)
“No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.”
Reflection
Temptation is something every person faces, no matter how strong their faith may seem. Even Jesus was tempted in the wilderness (Matthew 4:1–11), yet He resisted by relying on the Word of God. His example reminds us that temptation itself is not sin—it is our response that matters.
Imagine standing at a crossroads: one path leads to compromise and regret, the other to faithfulness and freedom. God promises that when we face temptation, we are never without a choice. There is always a “way out”—sometimes it’s walking away, other times it’s saying “no,” and often it’s turning to Scripture and prayer for strength.
Temptation thrives in secrecy, but it loses power when we bring it into the light—confessing our struggles, leaning on God’s strength, and surrounding ourselves with accountability.
Practical Steps
- Use Scripture as a Weapon – Like Jesus, speak God’s Word when temptation comes.
- Pray Immediately – Call on God in the moment of weakness; He hears and helps.
- Flee, Don’t Flirt – Don’t linger around what draws you into sin; remove yourself quickly.
- Seek Accountability – Share your struggles with a trusted believer who will pray for you.
Prayer
Father, We thank You for Your promise that no temptation is stronger than the strength You provide. We confess that at times we have given in instead of standing firm.
Lord, help us to rely on Your Word and Spirit when temptation comes. Teach us to recognise the way out that You provide and give us the courage to take it. Strengthen our hearts so that we may walk in victory, bringing glory to Your name.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen.
