Scripture
Romans 10:17
Welcome to today’s devotional. Today’s reflection and prayer is: “Building Unshakable Faith.”
Romans 10:17 tells us, “Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of Christ.”
Faith doesn’t become strong simply because we want it to. Faith grows when we continually fill our hearts and minds with God’s Word.
David and Goliath – Faith Built Before the Battle
When David stood before Goliath in 1 Samuel 17, everyone else saw an impossible giant. David saw a God who had already proved Himself faithful.
David remembered how God had helped him protect his sheep from the lion and the bear. Those previous experiences had built confidence in God.
So when Goliath threatened him, David declared that the same God who had delivered him before would deliver him again.
David’s faith wasn’t suddenly created on the battlefield. It had been developing long before the giant appeared.
The same is true for us.
We cannot wait until trouble comes before building our faith. We strengthen faith daily through Scripture, prayer, worship and remembering God’s faithfulness.
When God’s Word becomes louder in our hearts than the fear around us, our perspective changes.
Some Practical Steps
Read God’s Word daily. Even a few verses consistently can strengthen your faith.
Speak God’s promises. When fear speaks, answer it with what God has said.
Remember previous victories. Write down moments when God has helped, provided or carried you through.
Be careful what you continually listen to. If faith comes by hearing, what we repeatedly allow into our hearts matters.
Depend on the Holy Spirit. Acts 1:8 reminds us that the Holy Spirit gives us power. We don’t have to live the Christian life through our own strength.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, thank You for Your Word, which strengthens our faith and reminds us of who You are.
Help us to build our lives upon Your truth. When fear speaks loudly, remind us of Your promises. When giants stand before us, help us remember the battles You have already brought us through.
Holy Spirit, empower us to live courageously and faithfully. Give us a hunger for Scripture and teach us to recognise Your voice above the distractions around us.
May our faith grow stronger each day until we become people who remain rooted, confident and unshaken, whatever circumstances we face.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
